I'm calling in regards to the East Prairie prom which was held May 4. I was under the impression that if someone wasn't a junior or senior, their date had to be approved by the administration. When I attended the grand march, I was shocked to see who the administration had allowed to attend. We had boys 25 years old and boys who are continuously in trouble with the law and are known to do drugs. They even stooped to the point to let one of East Prairie's finest, a police officer, attend with his date. You would think if the system was concerned about our children, they would screen these people better. It wouldn't be that hard. After all, everyone is aware of the records of these people.
I'm calling about the comments about men wearing necklaces and earrings. I'm a guy and I don't wear them personally but some people do. I suppose the person who called in might also think interracial marriages and dating are wrong, too. I just love this town.
I thought KFVS-12 was there to report the news. They can take one little story and turn it into one that makes a person look like a hardened criminal. They need to learn all the facts before they report a story and embarrass that person and the family. They had a person convicted before they even get a fair trial. Now they are on this eyesore kick. I don't think that is really news. I have seen two of their reports. One was on a middle-aged lady and the one last night was on a lady in her 80s. I agree that these places look bad, but I'm sure they don't have the money to do any better. If KFVS-12 wants to help, why don't they go out and help these people clean up their homes? They're always collecting money for the police department and storm victims, which is good, so why can't they do something to help these poor people? I think it is a real shame to embarrass these poor people. I don't know these people but I really feel sorry for them.
When the weather is bad, all you need is a scanner. You can get all the storm reports faster than you can from KFVS-12. After last night, I will start watching channel 6 for my news. They don't flash pictures up over and over and report the same news three days in a row, and two weeks later, you get the same news. These people act like they're real detectives. They've got a lot to learn.
In the last week of April, I found a picture in the ditch by my house on Highway BB. If someone would like to call to claim it, it's a picture of someone named Otto Albert Baker, uncle of Margaret Baker Bryant. The picture was taken north of Campbell in the 1940s or 1950s. If someone wants to claim the picture, call 472-2658.
