SIKESTON - The Women's Division of the Chamber of Commerce held their first meeting last evening at City Hall since their successful membership drive on May 15. Mrs. Carl Campbell was elected chairman for the coming Chamber year. Miss Pat Pollard was elected vice chairman and Mrs. June Topp was elected secretary.

SIKESTON - Scott County essay winner, Rebecca McDonald, accepted the $50 prize money for her essay on "Mental Health Is..." She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Troey McDonald of Sikeston and is a sophomore at Sikeston High School. The essay contest was sponsored by the Bootheel Mental Health Center.

BENTON - As part of the Kelly FFA Chapter's annual parent-member banquet, Mrs. Judy Beggs, vice president of First National Bank of Sikeston, presented special awards to Jerry Hart, star senior, and Jennifer Felter, star junior.

SIKESTON - Justin Towe slipped a little on Monday, but not really. The Sikeston senior hurler - in his first start since losing a no-hitter May 11, pitched a two-hit shutout in a 2-0 win over Poplar Bluff. The action came in the opening round of the 4A District 1 tournament.
