SIKESTON - Two men are dead and two others critically injured in a collision between a pickup and a semi tractor-trailer rig, which was carrying 8,100 gallons of gasoline. Dead are the driver and a passenger in the pickup, George Rutledge and William Rister, both of Sikeston. Despite extensive spillage of gas, there was no explosion.

SIKESTON - Addressing the potential effect of new cable technology on residents within city limits, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted in favor of a proposal to change the maximum height limitation in residential areas to 50 feet. The revision included two conditions set forth by the Commission at the Tuesday night meeting. Now, the proposal will be put forth to the city council for a final decision.
