Gladys Denton

PITTSBURGH, Mo. - Gladys Irene Denton, 75, died March 5, 2002, at her home.

Born Feb. 18, 1927, in Collinwood, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Jesse Lucinda Jane Freeman Griggs.

On March 16, 1945, in Benton, she married James D. Denton who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: six sons, Michael Denton of Kansas City, Garry Denton of New Hudson, Mich., David Denton and Rikki Denton of Ozark, Danny Denton of Mayville, Mich., and Sgt. Stephen Denton, stationed with the U.S. Army at Fort Hood, Texas; one brother, Robert Griggs of Sikeston; and 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Wade Griggs; and one granddaughter, Theresa Denton.

Visitation is from 7 to 8 p.m. today and Saturday at Greenlawn North Funeral Home in Springfield, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday.

Burial will follow in the Missouri Veterans Memorial Cemetery near Springfield.
