SIKESTON - "Save by Sacrifice" is the slogan of National Flag Week, which begins next Tuesday, June 8, and which has for its primary purpose this year the raising of a hundred million dollars in war bonds and stamps, "above and beyond" normal purchases for the week. John G. Powell was named Sikeston chairman by Mayor G.W.H. Presnell.

SIKESTON - More than a score of people were at the Airport Thursday afternoon to participate in ribbon cutting ceremonies that symbolized the opening of a new taxiway. Holding the ribbon for the ceremony were Marilyn Grojean and Karen Abernathy.

SIKESTON - National Cancer Survivor's Day was celebrated Sunday with the American Cancer Society's move-along-a-thon (Making Strides Against Cancer) at Veteran's Park. The fund-raiser for the Scott County Unit of ACS brought in approximately $1,800.

LILBOURN - Summer Fun Days 1993 will return with a carnival and array of pageants June 15-19.
