Bootheel Rodeo gets under way

SIKESTON - The 51st Annual Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo got underway on Wednesday night.

Here are the results from the action on Wednesday.

Scott Montague took first place in the bareback riding with 77 points. Justin Stover took second with 74 points and Will Lowe finished third with 70 points.

In the saddle broncs, Jeff Willert captured first with 85 points. Dan Mortenson took second with 77 points and Justin Arnold finished third with 76 points.

In the bull riding event, Cory Melton took first with 89 points. Jason Legler took second with 84 points while Corey Navarre took third with 83 points.

In calf roping, Dillon Mundorf took first with a time of 9.7 seconds, blowing away the rest of the field. Marvin Tavarez took second place in 11.3 seconds while Tom Potter took third with a time of 15.8 seconds.

In steer wrestling, Roger Anderson took first with a time of 4.3 seconds. Bill Skinner took second with 4.9 seconds while Shaun Smith finished third with a time of 5.6 seconds.

In barrel racing, Lori Amoss took first with a time of 16.51. Kari Kois finished a close second with a time of 16.87 while Connie Morris took third with a time of 17.00.

Brad Paisley provided entertainment at the end of the night.

The rodeo will continue tonight and will run through Saturday.
