Bud Mashek

ADVANCE - Raymond "Bud" Mashek, 80, died Aug. 31, 2003, at the Advance Nursing Center.

Born April 2, 1923, in Advance, son of the late Frank and Flora Pixley Mashek, he was a 1941 graduate of Advance. He was a driver for Elfrank Truck Lines and had also been a shop foreman for Mirly Truck Sales in Advance before retiring. A member of the Advance United Methodist Church, he was also a member of Masonic Lodge 590, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 412 in Advance, Moolah Temple in St. Louis and was a member and past president of the Capaha Scottish Rite of Cape Girardeau. He was a weather watcher for the National Weather Service and had been an active leader for the Boy Scouts of America. In 1965, he was presented with the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership Award.

On June 15, 1947, in Marquand, he married Alma Tropf who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Glynda Mashek of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Eddie Hendrix of Advance; one stepsister, Betty Lucas of Phoenix; and 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his stepmother, one sister and three stepbrothers.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home, where Masonic rites are scheduled for 7 p.m.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Advance United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Zych and the Rev. Virgil Bunch officiating.

Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Advance.
