SCOTT CITY - Gilbert Joseph LeClere, 55, died at 7:45 a.m. March 5, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born May 5, 1946, in St. Louis, son of the late Russell E. and Iona Gertrude Doza LeClere, he was a truck driver for Danny Gilder and the SEMO Box Company and was a Scott City police officer. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Vietnam War.

Survivors include: one son, Kevin LeClere of Scott City; one daughter, Krista Renner Brown of Columbia; one brother, Lex Doza, address unavailable; one sister, Wanda Culpepper of Cahokia, Ill.; five stepsisters, Shirley Green of Tuscumbia, Cathy Smith of Ste. Genevieve, Linda Sutton and Vicki Bryant of Thebes, Ill., and Bonnie Allen of Baldwin, Mo.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandchild, his stepmother and one stepbrother.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday.

Burial will follow in Lightner Memorial Cemetery.
