Come visit the Expo

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce has an exciting event coming up on Friday, Feb. 7, at the Sikeston High School Field House. The Eighth Annual Business Education Expo will be from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

We have over 30 vendors attending, showing off their products and talking to the public and area high school students about career opportunities.

Vendors attending include Duckett Truck Center, Missouri Delta Medical Center, SEMO.net, Sikeston Area Higher Education Center, Metro Business College, U.S. Bank, Manpower, Zimmer Radio, Pepsi Cola, Steward Steel, Noranda, Associated Electric, Health Facilities Rehab, Kenny Roger's Children's Center, Carnell's Collision Repair, Winchester Chiropractic, Missouri Highway Patrol, Sikeston Department of Public Safety, Shawnee Community College, Bootheel Healthy Start, William Woods University, Sullivan University, Truman University and several branches of the military. The Student Chamber of Commerce will put on "Dress for Success" skits throughout the day and will also be running the concession stand for the event.

Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend. If you are in the job market or just interested in what is produced in Southeast Missouri come on out to the Expo.

The Chamber is once again pleased to be working with the Sikeston Public Schools and new this year, Scott County Central, in conducting a MAP Testing Awareness Campaign. Business and community leaders will once again assist the Chamber and area educators in promoting the importance of the MAP test and how students and parents/guardians can take steps to ensure a successful outcome. We'll have more details in our March article.

The Chamber is also busy getting ready for the SACC 53rd Annual Awards Banquet scheduled for Thursday, April 10, at the Sikeston Field House. Nomination forms for Citizen of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Business of the Year, Civic Group of the Year, Educator of the Year and SACC Volunteer of the Year will be going out in our February newsletter.
