Rachel Pierce

SIKESTON - Rachel Ruth Pierce, 88, died June 3, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born Feb. 8, 1915, in Hornersville, daughter of the late Peter V. and Lora Moody Branum, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114. She served with the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES) in Washington, D.C., and worked for the Anchor Toy Company for 16 years.

On July 25, 1971, in Sikeston, she married Cheston Pierce who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sisters, Betty Yeargain, Juanita Alcorn and Imojean Arnold of Sikeston; and several nieces and nephews.

Three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Sandra Schaller, associate pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
