CHARLESTON - Marcella Catherine Lankheit, 88, died at 11:15 a.m. May 20, 2003, at the Monticello House in Jackson.

Born Aug. 19, 1914, in Kelso, daughter of the late Charles and Mary Essner Ressel, she lived in Charleston most of her life. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella and charter member of the St. Henry Quilting Club.

On Aug. 18, 1938, she married George Herman Lankheit who preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1992.

Survivors include: five sons, Chuck H. Lankheit of Trenton, Dan Lankheit of Bell Plain, Minn., Cliff Lankheit of Cape Girardeau, Larry Lankheit of Nashville, Ill., and Al Lankheit of St. Louis; three daughters, Marietta Cochran of Pensacola, Fla., Millie DePyper of Canton and Norma Cook of St. Louis; two sisters, Sister Patricia Ann Ressel and sister Sienna Ressel of Techny, Ill.; and 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were one daughter, Donna Wilson; three brothers, Moses Ressel, Arnold Ressel and Roman Ressel; and three sisters, Ann Ressel, Sister Norma Ressel and Theodora Childs.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where a prayer vigil at 7 p.m. will be conducted with Deacon Robert DePyper of Canton, officiating.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Henry Catholic Church with the Rev. Ed Nichols and Deacon Robert DePyper as concelebrants.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
