Malden wins Riverbend

NEW MADRID - The New Madrid County Central Riverbend Track and Field meet finished up on Friday at NMCC High School.

On the boys side, Malden took first place with 155 points, followed by host school NMCC with 122 points and Hayti with 98 points. Other schools that competed were Kennett (93 points), Dexter (66 points) and Caruthersville (10 points).

Kennett's Tyree Goolsby and Malden's Karrington Rogers had the biggest days. Goolsby had three individual first place finishes, winning the 100 meter dash (11.06), 200 meter dash (22.06) and the 400 meter dash (53.04).

Rogers took first place in the long and triple jump and second place in the 100 and 200 meter dash. Rogers lead of 47'1 1/4" in the triple jump was the most impressive feat of the day.

On the girls side, NMCC won the competition with 120 points followed by Malden with 117 points and Kennett with 89 points.

Other teams that pointed were Dexter (87 points), Hayti (75 points) and Caruthersville (50 points). Dexter's Hannah Burleson took first place in the 100 meter dash (12.9), 200 meter dash (27.39) and the long jump (16'1").
