SIKESTON - Cleo Gardner, 86, died at 5:30 a.m. March 14, 2005, at the Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston. Born Dec. 13, 1918, in England, Ark., to the late Jim and Elizabeth Stewart, she was a hairdresser in early years and a housewife. For over 30 years she lived in Hayti where she was a member of the Second Baptist Church, where she was active in the HELPS program. SIKESTON - Cleo Gardner, 86, died at 5:30 a.m. March 14, 2005, at the Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.

Born Dec. 13, 1918, in England, Ark., to the late Jim and Elizabeth Stewart, she was a hairdresser in early years and a housewife. For over 30 years she lived in Hayti where she was a member of the Second Baptist Church, where she was active in the HELPS program. After moving to Sikeston she joined the Kingdom Living Church in Charleston.

In December 1935 in England, Ark., she married Primes Gardner, who preceded her in death. Also she was preceded in death by one brother, Ulace Stewart.

Survivors include: two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty Jean Gardner and Maxine and William Hill Sr. of Sikeston; and four grandchildren, Brian Blackmon, Antonio Blackmon, William Hill Jr. and Phillip Gardner; and seven nieces and nephews.

Private services will be conducted in Sikeston, Hayti and England, Ark., at a later date.
