Men arrested on drug charges

WARDELL - Pemiscot County law enforcement officers took two men into custody after a brief chase on foot.

A Pemiscot County deputy was patrolling County Road 216 near Wardell when he noticed a vehicle parked in the Rowe Cemetery. As deputies attempted to make contact with the occupants of the vehicle, two men fled the scene on foot.

While deputies were pursuing the men, officers noticed one of the men throwing something to the ground.

About 1:13 p.m. Saturday, officers from the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Department and the Wardell Police Department took a 20-year-old Homestown man and a 21-year-old Hayti Heights man into custody. The men were taken to the Pemiscot County Justice Center where charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony fleeing and trespassing in the first degree were filed. Bond is set at $46,000.
