SIKESTON - Miss Eleanor McClure was hostess at a small dinner party Wednesday evening at her home on Park Avenue. The guests were Miss Betty Ruth Limbaugh, Miss Sue Tanner, Dean Righter, Bob McCord and Ramsey Garner.
CAPE GIRARDEAU - Miss Nancy Abernathy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Abernathy of Sikeston, was crowned Sweetheart of Sigma Chi at the annual ball of Epsilon Phi Chapter of the fraternity at Southeast Missouri State College. Miss Abernathy, a sophomore majoring in English and French, was also named Outstanding Sophomore Girl by her sorority, which is Alpha Delta Pi.
SIKESTON - The Sikeston freshman and eighth grade choirs, directed by Gordon Beaver, presented a spring concert Monday evening at the Sikeston Junior High School. Choir members sang various selections which ranged from religious to popular music styles at the fifth annual spring concert.

DEXTER - New Madrid County Central moved into the championship game of the 3A District 1 baseball tournament for the second straight year with a 5-2 victory over Doniphan Tuesday. Sophomore Dustin Redden went 6 1/2 innings to record his third victory of the season. He gave up two earned runs on three hits. He walked two and fanned 11.
