SIKESTON - Manuel Drumm, city attorney, Saturday filed with County Clerk Phil Waldman petitions signed by 235 voters to run as an independent candidate for the office of prosecuting attorney of Scott County in the general election in November. Drumm served as an assistant prosecuting attorney in 1958 and 1959. He has been a resident of Sikeston for seven years.

SIKESTON - Department of Public Safety Director Roger Stricker's last official day is Friday and the search for a new DPS director is already well under way. City Manager Robert Knabel reported that 15 have already applied for the position.

EAST PRAIRIE - Dan Bollinger, executive director of the Bootheel Regional Planning Commission, meeting Monday with representatives of the county wide Industrial Development Authority, explained the objectives of the Title XI Economic Strategy Grant. Funded through the Public Works and Economic Development Act, the approved, $54,000 grant was sought following the closing of Brown Shoe Co. facilities in the region and Prairie Manufacturing Co. Local communities must provide $18,000 in matching grants.

JEFFERSON CITY - Judge T. Lynn Brown, Associate Circuit Judge for Mississippi County, recently attended the Missouri Judicial College. He was one of approximately 165 Missouri appellate, circuit and associate court judges selected to attend the intensive educational session.
