SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Essie Jewell Griffin, 80, formerly of Essex, Mo., died Nov. 11, 2005, in Sacramento. Born Nov. 12, 1924, in Delaplaine, Ark., daughter of the late William Edward and Bertha Wilson Prince, she was a member of the Olive Branch General Baptist Church where she served 16 years as a Sunday school teacher. She also served as a Sunday school teacher for 12 years at the Harmony General Baptist Church in San Rafael, Calif., and was president of the Missionary Society for 20 years...

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Essie Jewell Griffin, 80, formerly of Essex, Mo., died Nov. 11, 2005, in Sacramento.

Born Nov. 12, 1924, in Delaplaine, Ark., daughter of the late William Edward and Bertha Wilson Prince, she was a member of the Olive Branch General Baptist Church where she served 16 years as a Sunday school teacher. She also served as a Sunday school teacher for 12 years at the Harmony General Baptist Church in San Rafael, Calif., and was president of the Missionary Society for 20 years.

In 1941, in Grayridge, Mo., she married Robert D.L. Griffin who preceded her in death on April 11, 2003.

One son, Lyndell Wayne Griffin, also preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 2000.

Survivors include: two sons, Jim Griffin of Sacramento and Keith Griffin of Missouri; one brother, Link Prince of Michigan; one sister, Gladys Griffin of Arkansas; and four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several great-

great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. until time for services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo., with the Rev. Doyle Corlew of Dexter officiating.

Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery in Essex.
