Dewayne Acton

DEXTER - Dewayne Berl Acton, 74, died Dec. 17, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Feb. 19, 1929, in Davis County, Iowa, son of Faye Tracy Acton of Kirksville and the late Elder Walter P. Acton, he was a member of the Southwest Church of the Nazarene in Dexter. A former truck driver and mechanic with Malone and Hyde in Sikeston, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

On June 7, 1950, at Harrisburg, Ark., he married Vera Louise McCullough who preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 1964. He and Shirley Ann DeArman were married Dec. 24, 1964, at Dexter and she died Sept. 28, 1995.

On June 15, 1996, at Dexter, he married Betty Denkins Reynolds who survives of the home.

Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: four sons, Terry Acton of College Station, Texas, and Randy Acton, Rick Acton and Tony Acton of Dexter; five daughters, Roxanna Reynolds of Sikeston, Rita Summers of Jefferson City, Sherry Moore of Port Isabel, Texas, and Rosalie Howe and Rhonda Anderson of Kirksville; three stepsons, Ron Reynolds of Dexter and Don Reynolds and Rick Reynolds of Bloomfield; and 14 grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Rena Kay Acton; and two grandchildren, Janie Arnold and Nicole Suzanne Acton.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Gerald Beam will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.
