MALDEN - James Shaw, 85, died Dec. 31, 2004, at the home of his daughter in Malden.

Born July 14, 1919, in Crenshaw, Miss., to the late Ben and Lillie Washington Harris, he lived most of his life in the Parma and Essex communities, residing in Malden since 1988. He was a retired farmer and a member of the New Mount Zion Baptist Church near Essex.

On Sept. 1, 1948, in Piggott, Ark., he married Mozell McKeller, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bennie J. and Geneva Shaw of Elkhart, Ind., Elmer J. and Mary Shaw and Oscar L. Shaw of Malden; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Bernice Dennis and Cleveland Taylor of Essex, Elsie and Charles Hester of St. Louis and Fanny and James Farr, Alfreda Shaw and Dorothy Shaw of Malden; one sister, Gracie Lee Wynn of Sikeston; and 29 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Lee A. Shaw on Sept. 13, 2003, and two children in infancy.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. Wednesday until service time at noon at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. James Turk of Sikeston will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery at Malden.
