GIDEON -- Mary Madgalene McConnell, 85, died May 28, 2004, at Baptist-East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Born Dec. 8, 1918, in Risco, daughter of the late Daniel Otis and Orpha Belle Jackson Miller, she was a member of the Stanfield General Baptist Church in Gideon and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star in Parma.

On June 19, 1937, she married Chester S. McConnell Sr., who preceded her in death on May 9, 1984.

One son, Denny McConnell; one sister, Neva Thompson; and three brothers, Adolph Miller, Harold Miller and D.O. Miller, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: two sons, Otis McConnell of Southaven, Miss., and Chester McConnell Jr. of Gideon; two daughters and one son-in-law, Beverly Lawrence of Ripley, Tenn., and Shirley and Scott Arnold of Charlotte, N.C.; three brothers, Oscar Miller and Ed Miller of Malden and Julian Miller of Risco; and 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. The Revs. Andy Evans and Travis Lambert will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
