Fostine Fugate

EAST PRAIRIE - Fostine Perneitha Fugate, 89, died July 28, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Aug. 6, 1914, in Sugartree Ridge, daughter of the late Joseph B. and Perneitha Lindley Bard, she was a member of the First Christian Church in East Prairie.

On July 6, 1941, she married Herman Fugate who preceded her in death on July 9, 1996.

Survivors include: three sons, Dwight Fugate of Benton, La., Mike Fugate of Jonesboro, Ark., and Steve Fugate of Arlington, Texas; three brothers, Ike Bard of Shawneetown, Ill., Mackie Gene Bard of Edwardsville, Ill., and Jack Bard of Pontotoc, Miss.; eight sisters, Gladys Brown of East Prairie, Frankie Pulhamus of Sun City West, Ariz., Lolita Wing of Oxford, Miss., Bernita Hopkins of Glen Carbon, Ill., Patsy Givens of Burnsville, Minn., Barbara Cohen of Glen Carbon, Mary Lou Gabler of Edwardsville and Sue Broussard of Baton Rouge, La.; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Three brothers, Carl Bard, Marvin Bard and J.R. "Sonny" Bard, also preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Martin Lucas officiating.

Burial will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
