Standard Democrat joining the 'Parade'

SIKESTON - The Standard Democrat is joining the "Parade."

Beginning Sunday, the "Parade" magazine will be featured free in the Standard Democrat newspaper.

"Parade has been a part of newspapers for more than sixty years and we think it will make an excellent addition to the editorial package we currently offer our readers," said Michael Jensen, publisher of the Standard Democrat.

The weekly magazine is known for its diverse content which appeals to readers of all ages. It covers trends in music and entertainment, food, fitness and health, technology and personal finance.

Among its regular features are Walter Scott's "Personality Parade," "Ask Marilyn," "In Step With" by James Brady, "Fresh Voices," and the cartoon, "Howard Huge."

The issue premiering in the Standard Democrat on Dec. 5 will include best-selling author Michael Crichton. Crichton has a new novel called "State of Fear," and says that we need to stop scaring ourselves about scientific predictions of doom that rarely come true.

Other stories upcoming include a special auto section in January, a home section in March and in April, the All-American Boys Basketball and Girls Basketball selections.
