SIKESTON - Temperatures remained low over the weekend with a low reading of 22 degrees reported Sunday. The rainfall was 1.5 inches last Friday and .32 inch on Saturday.

SIKESTON - Felix Snider, librarian at the State College in Cape Girardeau, informed the Kiwanis Club audience last night that the course of the Mississippi River has changed at least three times, and will continue to do so at least every 75,000 years. It is for this reason that the earthquake center is around the New Madrid area, he said.

SIKESTON - More than 30 youngsters were present Friday night at the opening night of auditions for the Sikeston Little Theatre's production of "Alice in Wonderland." The musical is being directed by Jeff Jackson and auditions continued Saturday evening. The auditions were held amid construction for the new stage at the Harris-Chaney Cultural Center.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Jaycees kicked off the 1993 Bootheel Rodeo with a noon press conference at the Sikeston Country Club today. The No. 1 item on the agenda was the announcement of this year's rodeo stars: Tracy Lawrence, Mark Chestnut, Lorrie Morgan and Sammy Kershaw. The event will be held this coming August.


SIKESTON - Approximately 500 fans marched into the Sikeston High School Field House Wednesday to hear the United States Air Force Air Mobility Command Band. The group, conducted by Capt. Frank J. Grzych, performed "March Opus '76" and "Salute to America," among other selections. A vocal soloist joined the group for "Wind Beneath My Wings."
