Kaiser serves up 15 points; Sikeston volleyball squad rolls past Charleston

CHARLESTON -- Sikeston's volleyball team defeated Charleston in two sets on Monday, 15-5, 15-7.

Junior Paige Kaiser had a big night, serving up 15 service points with five aces and one block.

"Tonight's match was good for our team," said Sikeston coach Steve Beydler. "We were able to let some girls play that haven't gotten a lot of playing time."

Emily Slaten had three points and three aces. Maggie Pfefferkorn had five points and one ace. Joy Daniel had two kills and two blocks. Rachel Vining had three points and one ace.

Berneatress Hunt had five kills and one block. Lindsey Davis and Margo Allen each scored two points and Tara Shoemaker contributed one kill.

"Charleston's program is starting to move along a little bit," said Beydler. "They have some good athletes."

Sikeston (6-5-2) will host Jackson tonight at 6 p.m. Earlier in the year, the Lady Bulldogs saw a 12-2 lead disappear as Jackson rallied to victory.

"Hopefully we can continue in the lane that we're going," said Beydler.

Sikeston won Monday's junior varsity match 15-3, 15-5. After starting the season 0-8, the Lady Bulldogs have now won three matches in a row.

"Tonight they continued their good, aggressive play and had a lot of communication between them," said Beydler. "They (jayvee team) has really pulled together."

After falling behind 5-0 in the second set, Sikeston's Audra Wooley stepped up and served 11 straight points.

NEW MADRID - The Chaffee Lady Red Devils volleyball team lost to New Madrid County Central on Monday, 13-15, 11-15.

Chaffee (1-6) kept things interesting for both sets, but eventually fell short.

Leading the way statistically for Chaffee was Lindsey Everett (1 point, 2 digs, 2 kills), Ashton Lee (6 pts, 1 ace, 1 kill, 25 assists), Jennifer Vandeven (5 pts, 3 blocks, 5 digs, 5 kills), Ashley Graham (6 pts, 1 ace, 1 dig), Natalie Townsend (3 pts, 3 blocks, 8 digs, 10 kills) and Mallory Keifer (1 pt, 6 digs, 7 kills).

Chaffee lost the junior varsity match 5-15, 2-15.

Chaffee will play at Caruthersville today at 6 p.m.

ADVANCE - The Richland Lady Rebels volleyball team lost to Advance on Monday 2-15, 2-15.

Further information was not available.

Richland, now 1-10-1, will play at Bloomfield today at 6 p.m.
