BERNIE - James Leo Renfro, 78, died June 13, 2002, at his home.

Born Feb. 24, 1924, at Hector, Ark., son of the late Martin A. and Mae Churchill Renfro, he was the former co-owner of Belle's Freeze Queen in Bernie. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of Bernie Masonic Lodge 573.

On Feb. 24, 1944, at Piggott, Ark., he married Belle LaRue who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons and one daughter-in-law, Gary and Mary Renfro of St. Peters and Roger Renfro and Randy Renfro of Dexter; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Charlotte and Norman Combs and Darla and Jim King of Kansas City and Janis Pott of St. Louis; one brother, Newton Elmo of Aztec, N.M.; two sisters, Marjorie Zimmerman of Dexter and Dean Swallows of Asherville; and 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, E.C. Renfro and Kenneth "Mutt" Renfro, preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, where Masonic rites are scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dale Hartle officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
