NEW MADRID - Catherine Joy "Katie" and Glen Allen "Ding" Helmes Jr. are the parents of their first child, a son, born at 12:39 p.m. June 29, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Glen Allen Helmes III weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was 20 1/2-inches long.
The former Katie Dawson, Mrs. Helmes is the daughter of George Dawson Jr. and Jane Ann Dawson of New Madrid. She is a student at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.
Helmes, son of Glen Allen Helmes and Ruth Ann Helmes of New Madrid, is employed by Drake's Auto Sales.
BENTON - Stacey Dawn Holman is the mother of a daughter, born at 8:59 a.m. June 30, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. Brooklyn Paige Holman weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces and was 18-inches long.
Holman, daughter of Karen and Doug Pullen of Charleston and the late Steve Holman Sr., is employed by the Market Place Bakery in Sikeston.
EAST PRAIRIE - Jason and Shannon Nelson are the parents of their second son, born at 8:42 p.m. June 30, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. Jason DaKoda Colten Nelson weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces and was 19-inches long.
Mrs. Nelson is the daughter of Deborah Mayabb and Larry Beyerbach.
Nelson, son of Joyce Perry and Ricky Nelson, is a farmhand.
