BLOOMFIELD -- Sikeston's volleyball team posted a quality win over Bloomfield on Thursday, beating the Lady Wildcats in three sets.

After losing the first set 11-15, Sikeston came back to win 15-12 in the second, then 15-12 in the third.

"Bloomfield has a very good team," said Sikeston coach Steve Beydler. "That's the best Bloomfield team I've seen since I've been coaching. They have a few girls that hit the ball fairly well, and they've got some good diggers. Everything we threw down, they got back to us. Early on that hurt us, but we were able to make a few adjustments and get our offense going. The girls really dug it out. They played with a lot of heart and a lot of drive tonight."

Emily Slaten scored 12 service points, had four aces and one block. Maggie Pfefferkorn added three points.

Joy Daniel scored two service points and had nine kills and two blocks. Rachael Vining had 11 points, three aces, four kills and two blocks.

Paige Kaiser scored seven points with two kills. Lindsey Davis scored two points and Erin Box had five points and two aces.

Sikeston (7-6-2) will be back in action on Monday, hosting Scott City. The squad will then host Oran on Wednesday in a match originally scheduled for Tuesday.

Sikeston won Thursday's junior varsity match in three sets. The Lady Bulldogs won the first set 17-15, lost the second 8-15, then won the third 16-14.

"The jayvee started us out with a real exciting match," said Beydler. "They kept spotting (Bloomfield) points, then would come from behind. Finally, they decided that was enough and finished it off. They played very well most of the game, but had lapses that helped the other team stay in it. That jayvee team is trying to put more gray hairs in my moustache."

Audra Wooley scored six points, had three aces four kills and two blocks. Amber Anthony had seven points and one ace. Erin Dement had three points.

Robyn Morris had six points, two aces, four kills and one block. Latiesa Peet scored seven points, one ace and had two kills.

Cassie Patterson had 13 points with two aces.
