Lorene Bennett

DORENA - Lorene C. Bennett, 75, died at 4:02 a.m. Sept. 16, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born March 7, 1926, in Camden, Tenn., daughter of the late Mims and Lillie Harper Beasley, she was of the Protestant belief. She lived most of her life in Dorena where she and her husband owned and operated Bennett's Store for 45 years.

On Jan. 22, 1946, in Charleston, she married Ruben "Brother" Bennett who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Barry Bennett of New Madrid and Dennis Bennett of East Prairie; two daughters, Toni Russell and Phyllis Martin of East Prairie; one brother, Woodrow Beasley of Cahokia, Ill.; two sisters, Kathryn Marcum of High Ridge and Marie St. John of Erin, Tenn.; and nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday. Martin Lucas and David Dowdy will officiate.

Burial will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Hoyt Choate, Charles Byassee, Malcolm Marks, Milas Gary Wallace, Larry Allred and Kelly Barker.
