Backfisch - Arnold

NEGRIL, Jamaica - Rosie A. Backfisch of Cape Girardeau and Preston D. Arnold of Sikeston were married July 28, 2001, at the Grand Lido Resort in Negril by the Rev. James MA. Peont.

The ceremony was held in a gazebo adorned with tropical flowers overlooking the Caribbean. The bride wore a white mermaid-style gown and carried a bouquet of tropical flowers and her husband was attired in a black tuxedo with vest and bow tie, accented with a floral boutonniere.

The bride is the daughter of Mary Backfisch of Kelso and the late Aloysius Backfish and the bridegroom is the son of Bonnie Kaminsky and Calvin Arnold of Sikeston.

Attending the couple as matron of honor and best man were Sheila and Richard Kell of Sikeston, sister and brother-in-law of the bridegroom. The mother of the bridegroom and Jason Kell, nephew of the bridegroom, were also present for the nuptials.

Following a small reception, the couple went on a cruise aboard the Princess Grace yacht.

A reception for relatives and friends was held Aug. 4 at the Best Western Inn in Sikeston, where Patrice Cahill attended the guest book. A formal dinner was followed by a dance.

The multi-tiered wedding cake was complemented with a fountain, which was designed and served by Sharon Null, Teresa Null and Lisa Null.

For the past 12 years, the bride has owned and operated Immaculate Cleaning Services in Cape Girardeau.

Arnold is general manager of Old American Insurance in Cape Girardeau, where he has been employed for the past 15 years. The couple are residing in Sikeston.
