SIKESTON - L. L. Leek and sister, Mrs. H.O. Sexton, bought the property at 843 Park Avenue Saturday from C.E. Golladay. The purchase consists of a duplex and garage with an apartment above the latter.

BENTON - Scott Countians purchased $17,512 worth of savings bonds during June, according to Donald R. Bohannon, savings bond chairman for the county. This brought the county's total purchases of bonds this year to $194,510 or 34.2 percent of its quota for 1964.

LILBOURN - Cathy Crockett will reign as the 1984 Miss New Madrid County. Selected Friday evening during the Lilbourn Summer Fun Days from a field of 15 contestants, Miss Crockett is the 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Crockett of New Madrid. Selected as first runner-up was Kaki LaValle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles LaValle of New Madrid.

MATTHEWS - Several contests were conducted at Matthews July 4. Winner of the 1984 Honda 2005 ATC was Mary Chaney of Matthews.

SIKESTON - Matt Raymond, general manager of Z Best Cellular, congratulated Francis Schumacher on becoming the first customer of the new business, located at 310 N. Main in Sikeston. Z Best is an authorized Cybertel Cellular representative. Raymond is formerly of Homestead Distributing.


PERKINS - The Perkins Volunteer Fire Department will host its 25th Annual Fish and Chicken Supper from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday. The cost is $5.50 for adults and $3.50 for children.
