SIKESTON - Marilyn Mayfield entertained several friends at her home Christmas Eve after the group had spent the evening caroling. Mrs. Loomis Mayfield chaperoned the carolers: Ruth Ann Forrester, Billy Northington, Barbara Ann Canedy, John Cavernor, Barbara Jean Guthrie, Patty Davis, Gene Hirschberg and Marilyn Mayfield.

SIKESTON - Mrs. William S. Baker Jr. entertained Thursday afternoon with a party to celebrate the birthdays of her sons, Billy and David Baker. Billy's birthday occurred Dec. 23 and David's is Dec. 31. Guests were: Cristy, Shelly and Wendy Baker; Skipper and Joseph Erlbacher; Carla, Bubby and Greg Colwick; Danny, Dana and Derrick Lefler; and Debbie, Beverly and Mark Ingram.

SIKESTON - Daniel Shackles II, son of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Shackles, celebrated his first birthday Dec. 5.

CAPE GIRARDEAU - Last season is finally dead and buried. And the Charleston High boys basketball team has brought respectability back to the program, along with another first-place University High Christmas trophy. The Blue Jays won their 10th straight game and their eighth U-High championship with a 61-35 victory over Jackson in the 47th Annual title game Monday night.


SIKESTON - The new year brings many changes. For the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce, new faces will appear around its board room table. Selected were Dan Sutton, Rita Degen, Jane Kirk, Steve Maxcy, J.R. Grimsley, David Bizell and Jerry Pullen.
