SIKESTON - Alice A. George, 77, formerly of Bertrand, died at 10:05 p.m. Dec. 1, 2001, at the Clearview Nursing Center.
Born Sept. 8, 1924, in Hot Springs, Ark., daughter of the late Clark Braden and Cora Broyles Spiller, she lived in rural Bertrand most of her life and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.
On Aug. 15, 1947, she married Martin Wesley George who preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 1974.
Survivors include: one son, Martin W. George Jr. of Sikeston; four daughters, Shirley Pullen and Belinda Houseman of Sikeston, Regina Kay Bollerud of Bertrand and Christina Faye Arnold of Benton; one brother, Roy Spiller of St. Louis; and 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were one brother, Carl Spiller; one sister, Merle Pace; and one granddaughter, Sarah Forrester.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Carl Addison, pastor of Tanner Street Church of God in Sikeston, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Martin George III, Roy George, Patrick George, Chris Kidd, Matt Kid and Michael Arnold.
