Harold Shaver

SIKESTON - Harold Loyd Shaver, 73, died at 2:52 p.m. Nov. 11, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Oct. 12, 1929, in Ingram, Ark., son of the late Oscar and Sarah McCamey Shaver, he was a corporal with the U.S. Army Infantry during the Korean War. He was a blacksmith in the maintenance department of the Missouri Department of Transportation for 43 years before retiring on April 1, 1991, and was a member of Shady Acres Church of Christ.

On Sept. 30, 1950, in Piggott, Ark., he married Betty Jo Scott who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: four sons, Dale Shaver of Little Rock, Ark., Raymond Shaver of Sikeston, Johnny Shaver of New Madrid and Randy Shaver of Morehouse; one daughter, Linda Helm of Sikeston; one brother, R.L. Vermilye of Pocahontas, Ark.; one sister, Lois Hubbard of Benton; and 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday. Johnny Hester and Pat Hogan, ministers of Shady Acres Church of Christ, will officiate.

The Missouri Military Honor Guard will conduct full military graveside rites at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Phil Hubbert, David Hubbert, Derrick Shaver Brian Shaver, Danny White and Arnold Davis.
