Mary Recker

SIKESTON - Mary Lillian Recker, 85, died at 10:50 p.m. June 26, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Feb. 4, 1917, at Point Pleasant, daughter of the late Archie Theodore and Mattie Blanche Williams Pikey, she attended Southeast Missouri State University and served as a teacher's assistant in the Marston School System. She served as the Marston postmaster during World War II, was a foster grandparent at Sikeston Kindergarten Center for many years and was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston.

In March 1941, she married Hubert A. "Hootie" Recker who preceded her in death on April 13, 1981.

She was also preceded in death by one son, James Olive Recker; one brother; and one sister.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Karen Recker of Sikeston; one daughter and son-in-law, Mattie F. and Rick Trum of Sikeston; and six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Stephen Schneider, pastor of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, officiating.

Burial will follow at Mounds Park Cemetery in Lilbourn.

Pallbearers will be: Ronnie Recker, Danny Recker, Bill Horton, Bob Dacus, Terry Schnurbusch and Ken Coffey.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Tyler Trum, Frannie Horton, Wade Recker, Andrea Recker, Stephanie Recker, Mary Recker, Tyler Sisk, Amy Jenkins and Chris Lay.
