PORTAGEVILLE - Kristine Marie Kimes and Freddie Eric Hill exchanged wedding vows in a 1 p.m. ceremony May 18, 2002, at St. Eustachius Catholic Church before the Rev. Henry Grodecki. Laura Schwendemann, friend of the bride, served as lector.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Kimes of Portageville. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Kimes and Rosemary Duggins of Portageville and the late Bob Duggins. Her great-grandmothers are Grace DeLisle and Effie Kimes of Portageville.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Hill of Portageville, the bridegroom is the grandson of Dorothy Douglas of Portageville, Calvin Douglas of San Antonio, Texas, and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Hill.

Music for the ceremony was provided by Tammy Thurman of Dexter.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a silk satin gown designed by Alfred Angelo. The long slender sleeves were adorned with window appliques and jeweled with pearls and diamond sequins. The sweetheart neckline was adorned with beaded appliques folding into a basque waist, attached to a full skirt and cathedral train, which both featured appliqued windows of lace beaded with pearls, diamond sequins and crystals. She carried a cluster of white eskimo and Virginia roses with stephanotis and fressia, accented with plumose and joined with a white bridal satin bow.

Amy Sullenger of Hermitage, Tenn., attended her sisters as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Natalie Brands and Laura Schwendemann of Portageville. They wore floor-length two-piece orchid satin gowns and carried arm bouquets of yellow skyline roses, lavender bluebird roses and limonium, secured with a sheer ribbon.

Hunter Ellis, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl. Her lavender floor-length satin gown featured a sleeveless top with a lavender beaded applique encrusting the neckline. The back featured lavender pearls with a lavender lace trim. Denise Hill, mother of the bridegroom, made her dress as well as the white satin basket which held lavender rose petals.

Jeremy Hill of Portageville served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Austin DeLisle of New Madrid, friend of the bridegroom and cousin of the bride, and Anthony Young of Malden, cousin of the bridegroom.

The bridegroom chose a black Renaissance tuxedo designed by Oscar de la Renta which featured satin lapels, complemented with a white vest and bow tie. His ensemble was completed with a white eskimo rose and lavender limonium boutonniere.

Serving as ushers were Ron Allen Kimes of Portageville, brother of the bride, and Timmy Sullenger of Hermitage, Tenn., brother-in-law of the bride. The men in the wedding party wore Oscar de la Renta tuxedos featured black vests and bow ties and their yellow skyline rose boutonnieres completed their attire.

Austin Kimes, cousin of the bride, served as the ring bearer. He wore a black tuxedo and vest with a bow tie. A yellow Skyline boutonniere completed his attire. He carried a white satin pillow.

The reception was held at the Portageville Community Center and was catered by Karen Gowan of Portageville.

Following a honeymoon trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., the couple is residing in Cape Girardeau.

The new Mrs. Hill is majoring in early childhood education at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau and the bridegroom is an officer with the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
