Sarah Kitchen

EAST PRAIRIE - Sarah Maxine Ashlock Kitchen, 85, died at 8:10 a.m. July 23, 2002, at the Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.

Born Oct. 18, 1916, near East Prairie, daughter of the late Jack H. and Odie Barker Ashlock, she was a lifelong member of the First Church of God in East Prairie.

In 1956, in St. Louis, she married Edward Kitchen who preceded her in death.

Survivors include: three sisters, Thelma Freese, Joyce Staples and Tootsie Allen of East Prairie; three nieces, Nickie Taylor of Decatur, Ala., Jennifer Bible of Imperial and Roxiann Woody of Dallas, Texas; and one nephew, Lee Staples of West Memphis, Ark.

Two brothers, J.B. Ashlock and Kelly Ashlock, also preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 7:30 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday with Larry Smith, officiating.

Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
