Dexter whitewashes Kennett

DEXTER -- Dexter opened its 3A District 1 slate with a bang on Friday night, obliterating Kennett 42-0.

The Bearcats posted all of its points in the first half, scoring 36 in a huge second quarter.

Matt Burnett scored four touchdowns, finishing the game with 187 yards on 25 carries. As a team, Dexter finished with 324 yards of offense. On the other side of the ball, the Bearcat defense held Tyree Goolsby and Company to just 75 yards of offense. Preston Clark threw for 73 yards on 3-of-7 passing, and backup Kyle Espey threw for 52 on 2-for-3 passing. Willie Dooley had three catches for 93 yards.

Dexter (6-2) will host NMCC on Friday.
