Looking Back in Time at April 29

ST. LOUIS - A. Wayne Bess of Sikeston has been named chairman of District 14 of the Missouri Committee, Brewing Industry Foundation.

ORAN - A public preference award was won by Miss Elsie Ball of Oran for a painting entered in an exhibit held recently in Paducah, Ky. Miss Ball won one of four awards given through popular vote of those visiting the show.

SIKESTON - Spectators and participants braved windy and cool conditions Sunday to attend the second bicycle motocross race of the year at the Recreation Complex. Approximately 116 riders participated in 30 races ranging from youngsters on big wheels to professionals. After being hampered at the first of the year with rain, the Booster Club and Optimists who run the track finally had a dry day. In July, the Booster Club and Optimist have been chosen to sponsor a national race that will bring in over 1,000 contestants. They have achieved this after only two years of operation.

SIKESTON - Sandra Cox and Mandy Lewis, both of Kelly High School's Future Homemakers of America Club, recently performed for students at the New Dawn State School in Sikeston. The Kelly FHA did a performance of "Goldilocks and The Three Bears" for the STAR Events, which they will be participating in at Southeast Missouri State University on Tuesday.


SIKESTON Grand opening drawing winners at Medicap Pharmacy on North Main Street are Phil Lyons, who won a color TV; Jack Miller, second place winner of $289 in prescriptions; and Martha Trail Roderick, third place, who will receive $89 in prescriptions. Ronnie and Linda Hamra are owners of the store.
