Virginia Marchildon
CAIRO, Ill. - Virginia Marchildon, 89, died at 7:05 a.m. April 16, 2003, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, Ga.
Born March 31, 1914, in Nashville, Tenn., daughter of the late Walter and Cora Crocker Wood, she was a sales clerk for Neil's Drugstore in Cairo before retiring. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo.
Her husband, L.C. "Polly" Marchildon, preceded her in death in 1996.
Survivors include: two daughters, Charlotte Jackson of Waterloo, S.C., and Carol Ann Harvell of Paducah, Ky.; one son, the Rev. Donald W. Marchildon of Athens; and 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were one sister, Louella Rumsfeld; and four brothers, Dolphus Wood, Howell Wood, Benjamin Wood and Walter Wood.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo where a rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Jerome Fortenberry officiating.
Burial will follow in the Thebes Cemetery at Thebes.
