SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Country Club Open Tennis Tournament was recently held at the Sikeston Public School tennis complex and the Sikeston Country Club courts.
The number of players exceeded 76.
In women's singles, Farmington's Kim Bohenkamp took first place with wins over Penny Hunter and Jenny DeWitt.
In men's singles, Jackson's Shane Anderson took first over Germany's Phillip Bagus, who was visiting relatives in Perryville. Anderson won the match 6-1, 6-3.
He has won the Sikeston Tournament several times since 1987.
In the men's A singles, Sikeston's Charlie Moore defeated Ken Anderson 6-2, 6-4. The men's B singles were won by 14-year-old David Conley. His father was a Sikeston native and Bulldog tennis player who now teaches and coaches tennis at Parkway West in St. Louis.
He defeated Joe Smith from Union City, Tenn., in the finals, 6-1, 7-5.
The open doubles was won by Shane Anderson and Phillip Bagus over Larry Albritton and Doug Dobbs, 6-2, 6-1.
The men's B doubles was an all-Sikeston final with Greg Colwick and Joe Recker beating Joe Childress and Gary Robey 6-4, 6-1.
Mixed doubles was won by Barbara Nokamazana and Jay Roberts over Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Conley, 6-4, 7-5.
