SIKESTON - One of the biggest real estate deals in Sikeston in several months was completed Wednesday when Marvin Ralph sold the lot on the corner of Malone and Kingshighway, now occupied by the Anderson Hotel and a filling station, to the Shell Petroleum Co. of St Louis, with the new owner gaining possession on Dec. 1. The purchase price of the property was $15,000 and the deal was complete after three months of negotiations.

WASHINGTON - President Johnson rode a massive tidal wave of votes to a smashing victory over Sen. Barry Goldwater and promptly called on all Americans to "face the world as one."

SIKESTON - Daily Standard Calendar Girl Melanie Dame enjoyed the final days of fall before the onset of cold weather in November. The 17-year-old daughter of Janet and Terry Dame, Miss Dame is the 1984 Miss Sikeston. A senior at Sikeston High School, she enjoys accounting and English. Following graduation, she plans to attend college majoring in communications.

SIKESTON - Students at Southwest Elementary School voted for a drug free life recently in recognition of Red Ribbon Week. The children decoratively created their own ballots.

SIKESTON - The 10th Annual Pancake Day at Wesley United Methodist Church is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. A menu of sausage, bacon, pancakes and drinks will be available. The donation is $4 for all you can eat and there is no charge for children under age 6. Tickets can be obtained from members of the Methodist Men or at the door.
