Voters set to decide issues
SIKESTON - In addition to city official and school board candidates, Scott County ballots include several other issues to vote on Tuesday.
No election is necessary for Sikeston R-6 school district board members as board president Greg Colwick and board members Rick Adams and Bill Priday were all unopposed for new terms.
Voters in this school district will decide, however, on a $4.53 million general obligation bond issue to construct, improve, furnish and equip new science, math and other classrooms and facilities at the senior high school campus.
County residents located within the boundaries of the proposed Public Water Supply District No. 4 also have a big decision to make: whether to incorporate the district or not.
And those casting ballots within the Illmo Special Road District must decide if they want to dissolve their road district in addition to selecting a director from among the three candidates, Terry Gettings, Bill Zimmerman and Edwin Ledure.
Former Sikeston City Council member Sue Rogers is the sole candidate for the open at-large City Council seat in Sikeston. The incumbent, Phil Boyer, did not seek re-election.
