Vernon Francis

DEXTER - Vernon K. Francis, 70, died Sept. 3, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Nov. 27, 1932, at Frisco, son of the late Joe and Mable Joseph Francis, he was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Frisco. A retired farmer and veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a member of Dexter Masonic Lodge 532, Scottish Rite, Valley of St. Louis and member of the Shriners.

On Aug. 30, 1952, at Essex, he married Louise Causey who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Jeanne Francis of Ozark and Kevin and Linda Francis of Dexter; two brothers, Bill Francis of St. Louis and Don Francis of The Villages, Fla.; one sister, Ruthie Avery of Essex; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Harold Gass will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
