SCOTT CITY - Nellie D. Hanschen, 86, died Oct. 11, 2003, at The Arbors of Cape Girardeau.
Born March 12, 1917, in Fornfelt, daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Ruth Marie Clark Speak, she was a teacher from 1937-41 at Illmo Elementary School and from 1971-77 at St. Joseph Catholic School. She was a lifelong resident of Scott City where she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Council of Catholic Women at St. Joseph and served as the church organist for 38 years.
On May 29, 1941, she married Richard George Hanschen who preceded her in death on April 18, 1983.
Survivors include: two sons, Joe Hanschen of Jefferson City and Steve Hanschen of Dunlap, Tenn.; one daughter, Maria Hanschen of Charleston; one sister, Mary Nicholson of Smyrna, Ga.; and three grandsons.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. David Coon officiating.
Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery at Scott City.
