DEXTER -- James Byron Sonney, 61, died Sept. 27, 2003, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.

Born June 1, 1942, in Greene County, Ark., son of the late Oliver and Mae Graham Sonney, he was a member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter and a former forklift operator at Stanislaus Food in Modesto, Calif.

On May 11, 1961, at Rector, Ark., he married Cynthia Rogers who survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: three sons, Jimmy Dean Sonney of Moville, Iowa, and Rickey Allen Sonney and Michael Shane Sonney of Modesto, Calif.; one daughter, Donna Marie Page of Longview, Texas; three brothers, Wayne Sonney of Australia, Donnie Sonney of Schurz, Texas, and Melvin Sonney of Paragould, Ark.; three sisters, Louise Stackhouse of Modesto, Calif., Mamie Worley of Farmington and Faye Tucker of Riverbank, Calif.; and seven grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Three brothers, Doyle "Red" Sonney, Charlie Sonney and Roy Sonney, preceded him in death.

Services were conducted at 2 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home. The Rev. Phil Warren officiated.

Burial followed in the Dexter Cemetery.
