Patsy Schaffer

LILBOURN - Patsy Ruth Schaffer, 72, died at 5 p.m. Oct. 16, 2003, at her home.

Born March 27, 1931, in Sikeston, she was the daughter of the late Howard C. Scott and Marveline Hawkins Scott Campbell. She was a city clerk for Lilbourn for many years before retiring and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lilbourn.

On April 11, 1948, at Piggott, Ark., she married John C. "J.C." Schaffer who preceded her on July 20, 1974.

Survivors include: one stepdaughter, Joy E. Schaffer of Sikeston; three stepgrandchildren, Mark Hendricks and Dana Shanks of New Madrid and Carol Recker of Cape Girardeau; one adopted son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Karen Sullenger of Lilbourn; one adopted daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Don Hanner of Lilbourn; four adopted grandchildren, Chelsey Sullenger, Emily Sullenger, Kate Byrd and Jacob Lewis of Lilbourn; one sister, Sharon Coffee of Lilbourn; two nieces, Alicia Sample of Cape Girardeau and LaDonna Hyslip of Sikeston; three great-nieces, Briana Smith, Brooke Hyslip and Bailee Hyslip of Lilbourn; and two great-nephews, Garrett Sample and Gavin Sample of Cape Girardeau.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Constance Diane "Connie" Schaffer on Oct. 21, 1957; one brother, Howard T. "Bud" Scott in March 1980; and a special friend, Bobby Sullenger on May 8, 2003.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Lilbourn, where funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. J.D. McClard, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Mounds Park Cemetery near Lilbourn.
