EAST PRAIRIE - After considerable discussion during a work session following Thursday's regular meeting, the City Council returned to open session and accepted a bid for renovation of the High Street water storage tank and supporting tower. Bids for the project on the 20-year-old tower were tabled after being opened June 10. The low bid of $67,122 from Hogan Painting and Sandblasting of Van Buren was accepted.

SIKESTON - Tradition will prevail. The Sikeston Cotton Carnival will not move to a new location. Sikeston American Legion Post Commander Arthur Bruce announced today that the Cotton Carnival, scheduled for Sept. 20-25, location will remain in downtown Sikeston. "The Legion regrets prior publicity about the possibility of having the carnival at the Kingsway Mall," said Bruce.
