Burger King shuts down Legion

SIKESTON -- Sikeston Area Youth League Baseball was back in action on Thursday. Here are those results.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Burger King 5, American Legion 1

Josh Carlyle and Charlie Bohannon teamed up to shut down the American Legion squad, leading Burger King to a 5-1 victory.

Carlyle pitched the first six innings, allowing four hits and two walks with nine strikeouts. Bohannon came on in relief and threw the final two frames, giving up no hits or walks with three Ks. At the plate, D.J. Barker was 2-for-3. Bohannon and Carlyle also had hits. For the Legion, Ethan Lee was 2-for-2. Andrew McDowell pitched most of the game, recording 11 strikeouts. Jared Brooks and Lee also pitched one inning each.

Lewis 4, Lions 3

Logan Gilmore scored on a single by Jordan Williams in the bottom of the sixth inning, giving Lewis Furniture a thrilling 4-3 win over the Lions. Logan Gilmore and Timmy Hart both hit doubles earlier in the inning to tie the score. The other big story for Lewis was the pitching performance it got from Hart. He got the win in six innings of work, allowing three hits and three walks with 14 strikeouts. At the plate, Gilmore led the way batting 3-for-3. Williams was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Hart was 2-for-3. Stephen Beydler also had a hit. For the Lions, Vince Howard, Lennies McFerren and Aaron Branson all had hits. Caleb Davidson and Howard both pitched in the loss.

MUSIAL LEAGUE

Noffel-Feurhahn 8, Leible Auto Sales 7

Nathan Holland and Kyle McElwain were both 2-for-2, leading Noffel to an impressive 8-7 win over Leible Auto Sales.

McElwain pitched the first inning, allowing one run on four hits and one walk with one strikeout. Holland threw the final three innings, giving up six runs, 15 hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

For Leible, Bradley Burks and Dustin Chaney were both 3-for-3 and Trent McMillian provided a double. Ben Murray, Blake Flannigan and Clay Driskill all pitched in the loss.

ROOKIE LEAGUE

Randy's RX 9, Dairy Queen 0

Brandon Goodwin hit two doubles and a triple, leading Randy's Rx to the 9-0 victory. For Dairy Queen, Tyler Neal hit a double.

731 Realty 2, First Midwest 0

For 731, Tyler Anderson and Cord Sheehy each hit a double. First National 5, Jim Wilson 2

For First National, Hunter Duff hit a double. For Jim Wilson, Doug Still hit a double.

MINOR LEAGUE

Rotary 9, RJ Silver 2

Austin Hay hit a triple, leading Rotary to a 9-2 victory. Wesley Shaw and Dylan Carrol were both 3-for-3. Zachary Moore was 2-for-3 and Hay was 1-for-3. For RJ Silver, Kiley Stark and Austin McMillion both had hits.

Morlan 6, Discount Rentals 0

For Morlan, Cody Rodgers and Colton Hampton were both 2-for-3. Garrett Lawson and Collion Putnam also had hits. For Discount Rentals, Spencer Raymond was 2-for-2.
