DEXTER - Wilma "Winnie" McCanne, 84, died May 4, 2004, at Missouri Southern Healthcare.

Born June 11, 1919, in Calloway County, daughter of the late Robert Bland and Anna Virginia Dawson Kemp, she attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Dexter. She was a member of the Dexter Hospital Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans, Dexter Eagles Aerie 4062 and was a volunteer for the Dexter Senior Center.

On April 24, 1943, at Lawton, Okla., she married Dr. Joe Ridings McCanne who preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 1984.

Survivors include: one son, James McCanne of Malden; five daughters, Patricia Tripp and Emily Scott of Columbia, Katherine Scott of Cary, N.C., Sue Snider of Sugarloaf Shores, Fla., and Mary Robertson of Dexter; one brother, Charles Kemp of San Diego, Calif.; one sister, Frances Simmons of Overland Park, Kan.; and 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were three brothers, R.B. Kemp, Paul Kemp and Jack Kemp; and one grandson, Sean Tripp.

Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. Friday until service time at 1 p.m. at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. M.L. Duffie will officiate.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Columbia.
