DEXTER -- Anita Bell Wheeler, 77, died Dec. 25, 2007, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Born Oct. 24, 1930, in St. Louis, daughter of the late Frank and Ula Mae Byers Wallen, she was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Dexter where she sang in the choir and was a member of the women's Extension Club.

On April 17, 1948, in St. Louis, she married John "Bill" Wheeler, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, John William and Eloise Wheeler of Yakima, Wash.; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Susan and Wayne Klobe of Ferguson, Jo Ann and Glenn Balven of Wright City, Robin Wheeler of West Plains, Dorothea and Steven Schmidt of Lake St. Louis and Tracy and Doyle Burke of Poplar Bluff; and 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Wallen; and two sisters, Patty Rome and Hazel Zelenka.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Adam Mueller will officiate.

Burial will follow in Sadler's Chapel Cemetery.
